Frequently asked questions
How accurate are the dates and amounts?
They are estimates. Each country's rules are built from public, official sources (laws, social-security and labour-ministry pages), which the app lists under Settings → Sources & disclaimer, and the money screen shows how every amount was calculated.
Real entitlements can depend on things the app can't know: your contract or collective agreement, your exact contribution history, employer top-ups, tax situation and recent changes in the law. Always confirm with your employer, your social-security office or a professional before making decisions.
Which countries are covered?
82 countries across Europe, the Americas, the Middle East, Asia and Oceania, with regional rules where they differ — for example several US states, Quebec, Chinese provinces and municipalities, Bosnia and Herzegovina's entities and cantons, and the UAE's free zones. Choose your country when you start; you can change it any time in Settings.
My country isn't listed. Can I still use Babyleave?
Yes. Choose My country isn't listed and enter the basics yourself: weeks of maternity leave and how many before the due date, the % of salary paid, an optional monthly cap, and paternity days. You'll get a timeline, checklist and estimate based on what you entered. You can edit these rules later in Settings. And tell us which country you'd like — requests help us decide what to add next.
Which languages does the app support?
40 languages, including Arabic and Hebrew (right to left). The app follows your iPhone's language and you can change it in Settings. Official leave and benefit names are kept in the local language so they match the forms you'll fill in.
What's included for free, and what does Pro add?
Free: the leave timeline for both parents, every country and language, the checklist of forms and deadlines, and the official sources.
Pro (one-time purchase, no subscription): money per month for both parents, moving days between parents, the PDF summary, and deadline reminders.
How do I restore my Pro purchase?
Open the app → Settings → Purchases → Restore purchases, signed in with the same Apple ID you bought it with. Pro is a one-time purchase, so it never renews and there is nothing to cancel.
For refunds, Apple handles all payments: request one at reportaproblem.apple.com.
Reminders don't show up. What can I check?
Reminders are local notifications scheduled on your iPhone for 9:00 a week before each deadline and on the day itself. Make sure reminders are turned on in the app, and that notifications for Babyleave are allowed in iOS Settings → Notifications → Babyleave. Focus modes can hide them. Items you've ticked as done are not reminded. iOS limits how many reminders an app can schedule at once, so the nearest deadlines come first.
How are the rules kept up to date?
Rules are checked against official sources and updated with app updates — for example when benefit amounts or caps change at the start of a year, or when a new law takes effect. Keep the app updated through the App Store. If you notice a rule that changed, please email us with a link to the official source.
Do I need an account or internet connection?
No account, ever. Planning works offline; the internet is only used for the in-app purchase and when you open a source link. See the privacy policy.
How do I delete my data?
In the app: Settings → Delete all my data. Deleting the app also removes everything. We don't hold a copy.
